We are still accepting Stories for our Flash Fiction Contests!
Submission Guidelines
Please read the following carefully and completely to avoid any confusion between our submission and formatting guidelines. Any detour from these guidelines may result in a rejection of your submission regardless of its quality or content.
Be advised: Entries accepted for our Flash Fiction Contests will appear on the open internet and will be considered PUBLISHED. By submitting to the contest, you agree to grant BBTmagazine.com first publication rights.
Our Flash contests run every two months and are open to all submissions that meet the following criteria:
1. 1000 words or less. No exceptions
2. Relate to the contest topic.
3. As Blood Blade and Thruster is a publication of speculative fiction with a slant to the satirical, we will only accept works of horror, fantasy, and science fiction, which convey a self-deprecating or humorous view of the genre.
4. Please use Ariel 12 point font, single space, left justify, with an extra space between paragraphs and a centered pound sign (#) between section breaks.
5. Send stories embedded in the body of the email to bbtmagazine@gmail.com . Do not send as attachments.
6. Our contests are not edited; we’ll print all that we get that meets the above requirements and we’re not going to make any changes to them so please, check your spelling and grammar!
7. Winners will be determined by votes among the BBT editorial staff. The winning story of each contest will be illustrated in awesome style by BBT Artists. We will include the illustration with the story on the site and we will also make a big deal over the winner and the stories that place second and third.
8. BBT Editors and Bloggers are welcome to submit stories but are ineligible to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
9. Keep in mind it is not our goal to attack or ridicule, but to occasionally provide a light-hearted view of the various genres and/or the followers they gather. At the same time, we don’t want to lose sight of serious short fiction, and welcome those submissions as well. Our target readership is of age, therefore adult themes are welcome within the realm of good taste. We understand that good taste is a subjective mistress, and we fully intended to tread on her vague borders now and then, but we are not looking for work that is arbitrarily abusive.
