Now With Electrolytes! What Nerds Crave!

Mike Judge’s film ‘Idiocracy’ is one of those movies where what actually happens isn’t that important. It’s the world the film creates that matters. Any action and adventure we see in such a tale is secondary to the rubbernecking as we try to take this strange, impossible place in.

If you aren’t hip to the details, the film imagines an America where the apparent prevailing stupidity of our population grows and grows, until the average dumbass from our century would be hailed as the smartest person on the planet.

Flash Fiction Contest Epsilon Begins!

Filed Under BBT Magazine | 3 Comments

Hey all-

FFCDelta has come and gone- read all about it here- and the topic of celebrity seems to have left some of our regular contributers cold, so for Epsilon we’re giving the contest a blast of the spice weasel and making the topic SEX.

That’s right, since the contest will encompass the first of May (Johnny C fans know what that means) we’ll be looking for stories 1000 words or less with a sci fi horror or fantasy themes and a satirical bent. And while we won’t reject the explicit, the way to win is to bring the awesome. Full guidelines are here.

Get writing, and bring that awesome to us!

In just this year there have been two televised specials about how the planet would ‘recover’ should humans disappear, and in a recent issue of Discover magazine, a conservationist said ’humans are evolution’s greatest mistake. ‘

Movie reviews with BBT critic Jef Taylor

Arthur Hamilton is a middle aged man with a respectable but boring position at a New York City bank.  He has a commute from the placid suburbs through the chaos of the city, and a cordial but passionless relationship with his wife.  He’s dissatisfied with his life, he sweats a lot, and lately he’s been getting phone calls from a friend of his who’s supposed to be dead.  It must be time for him to be blackmailed by a secret society into changing his identity and appearance and moving away from his old life forever.

Here’s something I’ve been enjoying lately- it’s a great way to distract myself from all those Deconstructionists I haven’t written lately!

Go here, friend folks, see what books they have read and occasionally write or post a review. Great fun, very nerdy.
