From the desk of Earl B Morris

Last year I wrote an open letter to William Katt detailing complaints I had regarding his lack of communication with our Murfreesboro chapter of his fan club.  Via the miracle of the world widening of the web based telecommunications called "Netting" among those in the know, I recieved a missive from Mr. Katt in which he apologized for his lateness in responding, and agreed to answer a few questions for his fans.

The interview follows:

Earl B Morris: In a recent meeting of our local Murfreesboro chapter of the The Katillacs, our Greatest American Hero fan club, a bit of a tête-à-tête ensued regarding my uniform.
Some members claimed that my “packing” my costume in order to compensate for areas where nature had failed to provide was immoral and probably illegal, to which I responded that this was a common technique among actors and jazz dancers, and in no way undermined the efficacy of the costume. Will you help to settle this unrest?

William Katt: Certainly didn’t get in the way of Errol Flynn or more recently Jack Black for that matter.
Hell… if the network wasn’t so prudish when I was doing Greatest American Hero I’m sure the show would have run another 3 or 4 seasons. If boots were made for walking then tights were made for stretching

Read the essay or watch this Futurama clip- they’re pretty much the same thing.

Earlier this week I posted a link on our forums to an article over on FreeGeekery dot com about how to become a cyborg.  This seems to be an idea whose time has come- or will be coming soon, because right now, the only people I know who qualify are an uncle  with a pacemaker and a friend my own age with a shunt in his head to alleviate pressure from a brain tumor. Unlike the more enthusiastic calls for internalized mechanical upgrades, these modification do not give their recipients super-powers, unless ‘the ability to continue living’ counts as such.

Okay, it’s the time of the year – Summer Blockbuster Time!  Despite the fact that I have nice widescreen HD TV in my house and a big comfy chair to watch movies there are still times when I prefer to experience a new movie with a crowd of strangers.  There’s just something about Spiderman and yes, even The Fantastic Four that makes the viewing experience more memorable when experienced with a crowd.  That means I venture out of my house to a movie theater.

The thing is I am finding the movie theater to be a less and less enjoyable experience.

Hello from your long lost publisher. I am writing this blog 27 hours and 19 minutes late, please accept my apologies for the lateness, and as you will discover, the brevity. The Real World has interfered with My World this past few weeks. A difficult situation to be sure, but one I intend to rectify as quickly as possible.

Notes of interest for this week:

  • We have an upcoming regular blog by horror author Fran Friel that should prove to be quite a kick in the nethers. Look for it to begin in July.
  • Earl B Morris was recently granted an interview with Greatest American Hero star William Katt after William saw his open letter to him in which he was quite upset about the lack of communication William had with Earl’s fanclub - The Kattilacs. Wiliam proved to be a very good sport, and even has some really great stuff in the works that BBT clan may be interested in, including a comic book, and a film about rpg gamers called, get ready for it - Gamers. Look for it in the next few weeks.
  • BBT #3 is in the works, and although it’s running a little late, it should prove to be well worth the wait - over 100 pages of BBT goodness, with a cover you would be proud to hang on your wall. Look for it in July.
  • It’s much easier to read a slushpile when naked and standing in your office reading aloud, sipping Guinness. Look for it all over the internet.
  • There is soon to be a secret cabal of BBT fans and staff called Zombie Sub Rosa. A portion of our website will be dedicated to those who can crack the code, and will include all kinds of cool extras. Look carefully for it in the coming months.

Love,

Lucien

Three Steps Forward, Two Steps Back

Part of the glory of Youtube is that it is actually changing how we communicate. Consider this: previously, I had to be satisfied with having conversations using Simpson quotes. Now I can have conversations using Simpson clips
